Brought up in a world of old time tunes and dedicated pickers, Micah Ling is quite at home when she plays. A mid-Michigander hailing from the banks of the Thornapple River, Micah has deep strong roots in Michigan's traditional music community.
Micah's instrument of choice is the cello and you can hear her warm and tender tones supporting many Michigan songwriters. High above these long low notes, Micah's voice playfully ornaments the songs she sings with a purity that is truly moving. From the early days of the Hawks and Owls String Band to her current solo work, Micah offers her musical expression with joy and soul. Her new album, Kingdom Come, was released in September of 2014 and features many Michigan artists, including Chris Bathgate, Nic Gareiss, Michael Beauchamp, Laurel Premo, and Samantha Cooper.
The Earthwork Music collective believes in the intrinsic and historical power of music to raise both community and self-awareness and serves to facilitate and encourage original music in the state of Michigan and beyond.
