Susan Fawcett is as comfortable playing original fiddle compositions
or traditional claw-hammer banjo tunes as singing ballads in Spanish
accompanied by her Venezuelan cuatro. A multi-instrumentalist and
founding member of the Earthwork Music collective, she’s interested in
the folk music traditions of the Americas, and has an inordinate
fondness for waltzes.
She recently received a Masters in biology from Northern Michigan
University where she studied the flora and ecology of a neotropical
savanna in Honduras. She also works as an scientific illustrator and
her work (both visual art and music) has appeared on many Earthwork
albums over the years.
She is currently based in Berkeley, California where she is accepting
students of old-time fiddle and claw-hammer banjo.
